Laparoscopic adhesiolysis is the surgical removal of adhesions. An adhesion is nothing but a band of scar tissue which initially develops as a part of the human body’s repair mechanism in response to any tissue disturbances, for instances due to previous surgeries. In almost 90% cases, a patient who has undergone an abdominal surgery will develop adhesions. In most of these cases, the adhesions are asymptomatic i.e. they don’t show any symptoms, but in few cases these adhesions can cause pain and diseases such as Asherman’s syndrome.
